On a warm January afternoon in the Dominican Republic, I was covering a visit from Pope Paul II (the 25th to be precise). I was a reporter for my High School. I was working in the press room where all speeches and photos passed through our hands. Exciting, yes… I was rubbing elbows with national and international reporters, yet wanted to be outside following the pope and taking the very photographs that I was receiving.
Later that year I graduated from High School and moved to Boston where I met my long time friend and Godfather to my daughter Carlos “Kiko” Martinez. Besides being a good natured person, Kiko and I had a lot in common including our love for photography. We grew together and learned a lot from each other. We joined various Professional Organizations in order to take our photography further.
Shortly, thereafter we met another long time friend and mentor, James “JB” Boykin of Special Effects Photography who increased our knowledge of photography even further and our knowledge was able to grow tenfold. Over the years a strong bond was developed with other photographers as well who in their own ways have contributed to the person (photographer) I am today. Over the course of these years I have joined in numerous Professional Photography affiliations and organizations where I have continued to learn and grow as a Professional Photographer.
